Union-Endicott is proud to recognize Alec Thompson, PE, UEHS Class of 2017, on being named the Structural Engineering Association of Michigan’s Young Structural Engineer of the Year.
The award recognizes a structural engineer with 12 years or less of experience who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the field while making meaningful contributions to the people and communities around them.
After graduating from UEHS, Alec continued his education at Syracuse University, where he graduated in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, followed by the University of Michigan, where he graduated in 2022 with a master’s degree in structural engineering. He has since built an impressive career in structural engineering while also making community service an important part of his work and life.
Alec has volunteered with efforts supporting neighborhood revitalization, holiday giving initiatives and local food distribution programs throughout the Metro Detroit community.
His accomplishments reflect the qualities U-E hopes to foster in every student—a commitment to learning, creativity, excellence and making a positive difference in the community. From his days as a Tiger to his professional career, Alec continues to demonstrate what it means to use his skills and talents to help others.
