Field Day

The district recently held its annual Fifth-Grade Field Day, a day that celebrates the end of elementary school and the exciting transition to middle school at JFS. The event was the idea of UEHS Class of 2024 graduate Shane Wallace. For his speech class, he pitched the idea, and the idea became a reality. It’s organized by the Office of Student Engagement and Wellness and supported by an enthusiastic team of high school senior volunteers, all focusing on connection, community, and fun.

To help students get to know peers from other elementary buildings, everyone was randomly assigned to one of four color teams. The mix encouraged new friendships and gave students a chance to build bonds before starting their next academic chapter together.

The day offered something for everyone. From classic field games like capture the flag, kickball, and relay races to creative stations like chalk art, face painting, bracelet making, sand art, and rock painting, students had plenty of ways to play, relax, and express themselves.
