Local History of Endicott, NY is a new course that takes a closer look at how Endicott grew from a small settlement into a well-known industrial town, and how it continues to change today. Students will explore the people, businesses, and ideas that shaped the community over time.
You’ll learn how immigration, industry, and local traditions helped define Endicott’s identity. The course also looks at how bigger national and global events influenced what happened right here at home.
What You’ll Study: Throughout the course, you’ll focus on key moments and themes, including:
-The rise of the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company and its role in shaping the town
-The “Square Deal” philosophy of George F. Johnson and how it affected workers’ lives
