leprechaun traps

First graders in Therese Yacobelli’s class had fun putting their learning to work by building leprechaun traps for St. Patrick’s Day. As part of their STEM activities, students acted like little engineers. They planned their ideas, chose materials, and worked together to solve problems as they built their traps.

They used graham crackers, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, Lucky leprechaun trapsCharms cereal, and pattern blocks to design and create their traps. Along the way, they practiced building strong structures, thinking about how things fit together, and testing what worked best. If something leprechaun trapsdidn’t work, they tried again and made changes, just like real scientists and engineers.

This was a fun way for students to learn, create, and work with their partners. We’ll see if we catch any leprechauns when we return to school the next day!
