French at crunch

70 seventh- and eighth-grade students in Bryan Tran’s JFS French classes immersed themselves in an evening of hockey and culture at French Night with the Syracuse Crunch. This annual event, hosted by the American Association of Teachers of French in partnership with the Syracuse Crunch, brings together French students from across New York State.

Eighth grader Nathan Farry participated in a “Simon Says (Jacques a dit)” activity on the ice French at crunchfollowing the first intermission, and French hockey vocabulary was displayed around the rink throughout the game. Afterward, students had the opportunity to meet Syracuse Crunch players Jakob Pelletier and Ethan Gauthier on the ice.

The evening was filled with exciting hockey action, concession treats, friendship, and learning beyond the classroom.
