Nine Amnesty Club members attended the League of Women’s Voters Annual Brunch, where they spoke about current state legislation. The students researched the Democracy in Detention Act and the raised awareness about voting rights for incarcerated individuals.
The event also featured a guest speaker, Clyanna Lightbourn, Campaign Director for the New York State League of Women Voters, who answered questions about legislation under consideration at the state level. Amnesty Club students have worked closely with Lightbourn as they examined the potential impact this legislation could have on democratic rights.
