Students in the UEHS Italian Club spread holiday cheer this season by connecting with residents at a local nursing home. The club visited twice, creating meaningful moments across generations.
During their first visit, students spent the evening reading Christmas stories and getting to know the residents.
Then they wrote personalized Christmas cards and made handmade decorations for each
resident. To make the gesture even more special, the club collected and purchased small gifts to go along with the cards and decorations, giving residents a heartfelt reminder that their community was thinking of them.
On their second visit, Italian Club members filled the nursing home with music by singing
traditional Christmas carols in both English and Italian. The performances highlighted their language skills while bringing familiar holiday melodies to life. Many residents sang along, while others simply enjoyed the festive atmosphere.
Through this outreach project, students saw firsthand how language and culture can bring people together. By serving their community, Italian Club members learned empathy, responsibility, and the joy that comes from sharing their time and talents, proving that even small acts of kindness can make a big impact.
Buon Natale e Felice Anno Nuovo!
