giving back box

Eight student volunteers from Tiger Ventures along with their teachers helped make this year’s Holiday Giving Box packing event a success. They worked alongside community volunteers at the Broome County Regional Farmers Market Building (Cornell Cooperative Extension), supporting a long-standing program that brings holiday meals to local families.

This year, the Holiday Giving Box program served 425 families and more than 2,200 individuals. Each box included everything needed for a complete holiday meal, from meat and staple TV giving back boxcarbohydrates to sweet treats. Families also received fresh produce such as onions, carrots, potatoes, and apples, all sourced directly from local farms.

The program is made possible through strong community partnerships, including The Leadership Alliance and Broome County. Additional collaborators such as Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, CHOW, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County, and Broome-Tioga BOCES School Nutrition Services Rock On Café play a critical role in coordinating packing and distribution. Each year students from a preselected school district are also involved, giving students hands-on opportunities to contribute.

Thank you to our Tiger Ventures students, staff, and for spending their morning giving back and helping ensure this annual event continues to support families across our community. Also, thank you to our UE transportation department for getting them there and back safely.
