stockings

Second graders in Therese Yacobelli’s class spent the past week turning their room into a small sewing studio. Each student learned how to use a real sewing machine, taking turns guiding their stockingsfabric through the needle to make a homemade stocking. For most of them, it was the first time they’d ever sewn something on their own.

Once the stockings were stitched, the fun really started. Students covered their creations with whatever decorations fit their style. Some went all in on glitter. Others added bright buttons, shiny stickers, or a mix of everything. No two stockings turned out alike, and that was the best part.

The finished stockings are now hanging “with care” around the classroom, bringing color and excitement to the room. Students will take them home before break, proud of the work they put into every stitch and sparkle.
