Two UEHS students are building real career skills before they even graduate. Junior Luciano Thomas and senior Kelvin Villatoro are spending part of their school day at The Barbershop Academy at Studio 11, learning directly from owner and CEO Nick Sorrenti.
The Master Barbering program is a 500-hour, state certified course that walks students through
every part of the trade. They learn the tools, the techniques, and eventually complete full haircuts under the guidance of licensed professionals. Luciano and Kelvin train three days a week at Studio 11, shadowing Nick and his team as they work with clients.
With their required certifications finished, the students now put their skills to work during free Sunday community haircut sessions. It gives them real practice and offers a helpful service to local families.
Whether they turn barbering into a career or keep it as a side skill, the program gives students a trade they can rely on for life.
