It’s almost Halloween, and first graders in Therese Yacobelli’s class at CJF have been busy with
some spooky, hands-on learning fun. Over the past several days, the children listened to Monsters of Halloween and then created their own monster crafts inspired by the story. The project wasn’t just about creativity, it was also about practicing important skills like following multistep directions and using fine motor skills to rip and glue carefully.
Each monster turned out different, a reflection of each child’s imagination and unique style. Alongside their art, the students also worked hard to memorize their own Halloween poems. They
practiced speaking slowly and clearly into a microphone, learning how to be brave and confident CJF leaders even when they felt a little nervous or excited.
All that hard work paid off. Each student took the stage at the Halloween Poetry Slam and shined. They were all leaders, and every single one was successful! Click here to view album.
