Hadrian

For his senior year capstone project in Union-Endicott’s Engineering Design and Development course, senior Hadrian Pezzino set out to do more than just meet the requirements—he wanted to make a real difference.

Hadrian developed “SpectrumSight,” a phone app designed to assist people with color blindness. The idea came from his desire to combine his interest in technology with something that could help others in everyday life.

Using a phone’s camera, “SpectrumSigh”t helps users identify colors with a simple tap. It reads the color on screen and displays its name and values clearly using black and white text—making it easier to understand for those who struggle with color vision. The app also includes features like customizable buttons and filters to make it more accessible for different types of color blindness.

Hadrian isn’t stopping there. He’s working on updates like voice feedback and even using vibrations to help users “feel” different colors.

This fall, he’ll head to SUNY Buffalo to major in computer science. He plans to release “SpectrumSight” on iOS soon, with an Android version in development. His work is a great example of using creativity and compassion to solve real-world problems.
