Target

Recently, CFJ second graders participated in Target Day, a day of shopping and practicing math. TarEach student began the day by signing an employee contract, officially becoming Target team members. With their new roles, they took on a series of math-based tasks designed to mimic real-world shopping experiences.

Throughout the day, the students practiced subtraction by calculating how much money customers saved on discounted items. They also worked on budgeting skills, carefully adding up the cost of items in their carts to meet specific spending limits without going over. Another activity involved matching prices written in standard number form to price tags shown in pictures, helping reinforce their understanding of numerical values.

The hands-on experience kept students engaged and enthusiastic. TargetThey worked collaboratively, thought critically, and applied their math skills in meaningful ways. Overall, it was a fun, productive day that brought learning to life in the classroomTargetTargey
