Kindergartners in Therese Yacobelli’s class at CFJ have been diving into the magical world of fairy tales—and learning key literacy skills along the way. fairy tales

As part of their current unit, students explored multiple versions of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. They practiced listening, retelling, identifying key vocabulary, and comparing story elements. Together, they charted the similarities and differences between characters and illustrations across the books they read.

The learning didn’t stop there—students also enjoyed songs inspired by the story and watched a lively puppet show featuring the beloved characters. Inspired by what they saw, they created their own puppets and performed the story themselves, with CFJ principals as their special audience!

From building vocabulary to building confidence, this fairy tale unit was a fun and engaging way for young learners to grow their reading and storytelling skills.
