UE tiger

Students in the Teen Outreach Program (TOP) Club at UEHS recently led a project to recognize exceptional teachers in their school. The students created and distributed a survey to their peers, collected responses, and tallied the votes to identify the three most appreciated teachers.

Congratulations to Michelle Gee, Julie Heeter, and Todd Groves.

This project gave students more than just a chance to say thank you. It helped them connect with classmates, build leadership and organizational skills, and reflect on the impact teachers have in their lives.

Here’s what students had to say:

  • “Mr. Groves is very kind and makes class funny and entertaining. He gives me motivation to want to learn.”

  • Mrs. Gee always makes everyone feel comfortable, judgment-free, and she wakes up every day like it’s a new day. Optimistic and friendly.”

  • “Mrs. Heeter is so kind and understanding. She always makes sure you are okay.”

TOP students meet weekly during zero period to focus on leadership, service, and personal growth. Earlier this school year, they ran a Holiday Drive for the Southern Tier Community Center, collecting and donating items for local teens. In February, they marked Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month by selling healthy relationship-themed candy grams, with proceeds going to RISE, an organization supporting survivors of domestic violence.

These projects are just a few examples of how TOP students are stepping up and making a difference in their school and community.
