The CFJ Library is offering students a new way to enjoy reading with the launch of its Reading Zone, a quiet, cozy space designed especially for 4th and 5th graders. Open during designated recess times, the area features soft lighting and calming music to create a peaceful retreat for students to unwind with a good book. Mrs. Gay, the CFJ librarian, says the goal is to give students a chance to take a break from the fast pace of the school day and connect with reading in a relaxed environment. “We’re excited to welcome more of our Tiger Readers,” she said.
In addition to the new Reading Zone, the library also hosted its first-ever Library Night Out on Thursday, April 10th. Families were invited to explore the library together, participate in a book giveaway, and enjoy a special read-aloud by Principal Mr. Shea. The evening included bookmark coloring, family reading time, and a visit from the George F. Johnson Memorial Library, which shared information about local reading programs. The event was a hit with students and parents alike, reinforcing CFJ’s commitment to fostering a love of reading both at school and at home.
Both events reflect CFJ’s ongoing mission to support literacy and provide welcoming spaces where students can grow as readers.
