French at BU

Congratulations to JFS French teacher Bryan Tran and students Grady Anthony, Hawk JFS French studentsJFS French students
Chanthongthip, Ying Qi Chen, Kayla Dillard, and Olivia O’Brien for their outstanding work and achievement! They were selected to present a collaborative project alongside Professor Elizabeth Clarke’s French students from Binghamton University.

The team showcased their work at the Community-Engaged Learning and Research Showcase, an event highlighting impactful partnerships between faculty, students, and the wider community.

This unique project was designed to do more than just practice language skills. Its goals were to foster real engagement, connect middle school and university students, and create a meaningful, immersive learning experience. University students had the chance to refine their French while working with JFS students, while JFS students gained a valuable opportunity to interact with college students who use French in academic and social settings every day.

The result? A dynamic exchange that brought language to life—beyond the classroom and into a shared space of curiosity, mentorship, and connection.

Bravo to everyone involved! This project is a strong example of how collaboration across grade levels and institutions can enhance language learning and broaden horizons.
