VCFU Internship program

The UEHS Visions Interns recently visited JFS to share two financial literacy lessons with students in Ms. Ashley Dray’s classes. The interns presented Banking Basics to 8th grade students and Dollars & Cents to 6th grade students, giving both groups a chance to learn practical money skills in a hands-on way.

During the Banking Basics lesson, 8th graders learned why opening a bank account is important and how it helps people manage and protect their money. The interns also walked students Visions internsthrough the parts of a check and demonstrated how to correctly write one, helping them understand a skill they will most likely need later in life.

In the Dollars & Cents lesson, 6th graders explored the different types of money used in everyday transactions, including coins and paper bills. To make the lesson more interactive, students created their own take-home wallets where they could store and organize play money, reinforcing what they learned during the activity.

Both lessons were engaging and interactive, and students enjoyed learning real-world money skills from the UEHS Visions Interns. It was a fun and positive experience for everyone involved.
