To celebrate a semester of collaboration with Professor Clarke’s French classes at Binghamton
University, students in Bryan Tran’s JFS eighth-grade French classes gathered at The Shop for an evening of joy, laughter, reflection, and crêpes. Throughout the semester, students worked together on three projects: writing their own “recipes for happiness,” exchanging words of encouragement on World Kindness Day, and most recently, illustrating children’s books written for them by BU students.
This culminating event was a wonderful opportunity for JFS students to meet the university students they had been partnering with all semester. It highlighted that language goes beyond grammar and vocabulary–it’s about building connections, using the language in meaningful ways, and experiencing culture together. Congratulations to all students for a fantastic semester of creativity, collaboration, and learning!
