Kindergarten is where learning begins, and in Marissa Beck’s class at GFJ, students now have an exciting new way to explore. Thanks to a VISIONS Loves Educators grant, Ms. Beck purchased a sensory table last year, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities.
This year, a UEEF grant helped her expand the project by incorporating more themed supplies directly tied to the kindergarten curriculum. Each month, the table changes to match classroom topics. For September, the focus is on colors and letters, with activities that help students practice color recognition, letter identification, and letter sounds.
Beyond academics, the sensory table offers a calming space where children can self-regulate and meet their sensory needs, making it both a learning tool and a support for emotional well-being.
