On the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, U-E students and staff across the district took time to pause, reflect and remember the lives forever changed by the tragic events of that day. At AGM, School Resource Officer Tim Doyle led a special ceremony honoring those who lost their lives and the heroes who emerged in the aftermath. Students and staff gathered near the school’s flagpole for a solemn observance beginning at 8:46 a.m., the time the first World Trade Center tower was struck.
During the ceremony, Officer Doyle lit three ceremonial flares representing the attacks at the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and the crash site in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the passengers and crew of Flight 93 bravely helped prevent a fourth attack.
Students and staff then observed a moment of silence to remember the lives lost and reflect on the courage, sacrifice and unity that followed September 11. 
Throughout the district, other U-E buildings also marked the anniversary with moments of silence and quiet reflection to honor those who were lost, remember the heroes who stepped forward, and reflect on the lasting significance of September 11, 2001.
