Learning happens in many ways, and that was clear during a recent visit to AGM Elementary. Tiger Ventures senior Parker Daniels spent time in Jennifer Anderson’s second grade class as a guest reader to read the children’s book “Seasons On the Farm” by Chelsea Tornetto through the Ag in the Classroom program.

The story, “Seasons on The Farm,” takes young readers through a full year on a working farm, readingshowing how life on the farm changes with each season. Through colorful illustrations and simple storytelling, the book highlights the many tasks farmers complete throughout the year to care for crops, animals, and the land.

After the reading, the students took part in a hands-on activity that tied into the book’s message. Each child planted a few seeds in a small cup filled with soil. They were able to take their cups home and observe the seeds readingas they begin to sprout and grow, giving them a simple look at how farmers start crops and care for plants as they develop.

Parker regularly spends about an hour each day at AGM helping in several classrooms, most often working with kindergarten students. During this visit, he stepped into a different role by reading a book to the second graders and leading a short discussion about the story afterward. Thank you, Parker, for setting a wonderful example to our younger Tigers and being a student they can look up to.
