New York State Teachers' Retirement System

The NYS Teachers' Retirement System is one of the largest public retirement systems in the world.  If your employment with the district is full time, membership in the system is mandatory under the NYS Education Law and Retirement & Social Security Law.  District and employee contribution rates are also mandated.  Upon retirement, the pension you receive comes from the NYS Teachers' Retirement System.
