Eamonn Hubert has been named a New York State semifinalist for the prestigious U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, Excellence in the Arts Component. He is one of only three Arts semifinalists and 21 students statewide to receive the recognition from among more than 5,000 candidates.
Established in 1964, the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program honors some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each year, up to 161 finalists are selected nationwide for their academic achievement, artistic excellence, leadership, and career accomplishments.
Eamonn has built an impressive resume in both music and performance. He served as Principal Cellist of the Binghamton Youth Symphony Orchestra for three years, has been actively involved in the U-E Orchestra, Select Choir, Jazz & Wind Ensembles, U-E Marching Band, and is President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.
In addition to appearing in a national Broadway tour, Eamonn has performed as a featured soloist, opened for nationally recognized artists, and maintained an extensive live performance schedule for the past 10 years. He has also composed, recorded, and produced original music.
His honors include selections to NYSSMA All-State, Area All-State, and All-County ensembles along with receiving the NYS Blues Festival’s KJ James Memorial Scholarship twice.
Eamonn is the son of Jimae and Doug Hubert and will attend SUNY Fredonia to study music performance and jazz guitar.
