The U-E varsity softball team paused this season to honor the legacy of Lynne Koban, a UEHS 1982 graduate, U-E Female Athlete of the Year, and 2003 U-E Hall of Fame inductee whose impact still echoes through the program. Recently passed, Lynne was remembered not just for her achievements, but for the standard she set. Players wore her number on their helmets, a quiet, powerful tribute that connected past and present. There was a sense of loss, but also deep respect and pride. After the tribute, the team shifted from remembrance to celebration, gathering for a ribbon cutting that officially opened the new turf field. It felt fitting. A new chapter beginning on the same foundation Lynne helped build.
