UEHS art teacher Cindy Henry was recently featured in Art Fluent, an online art gallery, with her textile piece "The Pendulum Swings." The work was included in the exhibition "In the Pink," a show that explores the color pink beyond its traditional associations.
"The Pendulum Swings" is a layered piece made from cotton, silk, and nylon, constructed using machine stitching.
The exhibition "In the Pink" challenges the idea of pink as overly sweet or decorative. Instead, it presents pink as bold, expressive, and versatile, ranging from soft blush tones to brighter, more vibrant shades. The show highlights how pink can exist in relation to the body, atmosphere, and the natural world. Click here to see online gallery.
Henry’s inclusion in the exhibit places her work alongside artists who use pink in varied and intentional ways. Through its materials and construction, The Pendulum Swings contributes to the exhibition’s broader celebration of everything pink can be.
Art Fluent's mission is to support and empower the arts by providing artist opportunities to make an impact by offering online exhibitions, calls for art, artist funding, and educational resources to help artists grow in their creative journeys.
It aims to connect artists and art lovers directly through our curated platform, which showcases innovative and inspiring artists of all levels. A portion of entry fees is donated to organizations committed to supporting the arts.
