UEHS amnesty club

Members of the UEHS Amnesty International Club recently presented to Clyanna Lightbourn, a New York campaign activist, and Professor Emerita Carla Michalak, Vice President of the League of Women Voters of Broome and Tioga Counties and Director of LWV New York State.

During the meeting, students shared a presentation on legislation that affects the right to vote, UEHS amnesty clubwith a focus on groups that may feel excluded from the process.

This opportunity marks the beginning of a growing relationship between Amnesty Club members and state leaders. UEHS students have already presented to local officials and connected with countywide leaders, and they will continue this work to raise awareness around equity and civic engagement.
