The district hosted the "Having Made a Difference" Alumni Dinner on November 7 when five distinguised alumni were honored. Congratulations to Eric Appel, Ann Butler Potak, Dr. Tracy Guilfoyle Bennett, Tyrona Heath, and Rachel Samiani. Click here to view the photo album

Eric Appel - Class of 1998: In 2022, he made his directorial debut, “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.” Not only did he direct the film, but he also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Weird Al Yankovic. The film was a critical success, earning a nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards. Furthermore, the movie itself took home the prestigious Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Television Movie, a testament to Eric’s vision and execution. Daniel Radcliffe’s performance in the film also garnered an Emmy nomination, further highlighting the quality of Eric’s direction.

Ann Butler Potak - Class of 1979: Author of her memoir “Wife, Mother, Spy - An Extraordinary Life Filled with Ordinary Days,” she worked undercover as a CIA officer for 27 years. Her mission: recruit spies, collect intelligence and help protect the United States. While working in this fast paced and dangerous role, she moved every few years to a different city, country or continent and with her husband raised five children. She exemplifies the ultimate balancing act – espionage and motherhood.

Dr. Tracy Guilfoyle Bennett - Class of 1988: Pioneer in women’s health care by developing and launching an improved medical device for women. Her work is in helping revolutionize women’s health care and encouraging women to seek medical care in a positive, forward manner. She travels around the country and world to promote the product and educate other physicians about the device. She is currently the Chief Medical Officer at Ceek Women’s Health.

Tyrona Heath - Class of 1998: Director and co-founder of LinkedIn’s think tank, The B2B Institute. Tyrona is a leader who blends strategic sharpness with human empathy, reminding us that B2B marketing isn’t just about metrics but about meaning. She is reshaping how the industry thinks about brand, behavioral science, and the future of AI-powered storytelling. As a two-time Olympic Trials qualifier in track and field, her message is clear, “Run your own race and make it unforgettable.”

Rachel Samiani - Class of 2005: A dedicated World Language and Culture Lecturer at Binghamton University. She is celebrated for cultivating inclusivity and cultural understanding, strengthening students’ language skills, and broadening their perspectives. She organizes impactful cultural events, initiates language festivals, and collaborates with local organizations to create opportunity and community engagement for her students.
