Learning another language offers clear advantages in today’s global job market. Reflecting that, UEHS recently held its annual Seal of Biliteracy Ceremony, recognizing 16 seniors for their proficiency in both English and a second language.
Congratulations to the following students who earned this seal:
French: Ioanna Lazaros*, Serenity Trudeaux
Greek: Ioanna Lazaros*. (Annoula Lazaros, 10th grader, is on track to receive her Seal.)
Italian: Faith Castoro, Giada Circensi*, Lukas Diamantakos, Allison Mariano, Sara Myers, Ava Paolini.
Spanish: Giada Circensi*, Gabriel Crocker, Jailah Dykes, Adriana Escobar, Colin He, Tristan Huff, Isabella O’Brien, Amelia Swavola, Madilyn Swavola.
*Giada and Ioanna are the very first students at UEHS to receive the seal in two languages.
Earning the Seal of Biliteracy is no small feat. Students must meet rigorous standards, including specific Regents and AP exam scores, as well as completing language checkpoints in both English and the chosen world language. They also deliver a final presentation in the target language to a panel of language experts. These high standards ensure that the seal reflects genuine, high-level achievement.
Since the program began in the 2018–19 school year, 63 UEHS students have earned this honor—highlighting the school’s strong commitment to language education and global readiness.
