This past Saturday at the Horseheads Blue Shoes Invitational, junior Maria DeNardis broke the U-E school record in the 2000m steeplechase with an outstanding time of 8:03.75—beating the old record by 8 seconds. Her performance wasn’t just fast, it was the payoff of months of focused training, grit, and consistency. Maria sets the standard on and off the track. She’s a leader by action, a supportive teammate, and a model of humility and determination. We’re proud of her record-breaking run and even more proud of the person she is. The season ahead looks bright.
