This past year, the Board of Education (BOE) began looking toward the future by building on the district theme
Cultivating a Culture of Collaboration and Community.
A strategic planning process considered what is working, areas for improvement, and how the school community feels about the work happening at Union-Endicott. Using ThoughtExchange, the district sought input from the school community and stakeholders to make the best plans for the district’s future that focuses on Cultivating a Culture of Collaboration and Community.
Once a summary report of the ThoughtExchange responses was completed, the district hosted a Mission/Vision/Values working session that included the BOE, district and building leaders, staff, parents, and community members. Working with Kevin McGowan, an education consultant, the compiled data was discussed with themed thoughts as priority areas: Family & Community Connections, Students Engagement & Accountability; Academic Rigor & Multiple Pathways, and Mental Health & Student Support.
Attendees discussed the feedback, dug into the comprehensive report, wrote objectives for each priority area, and brainstormed ideas on what can be done to accomplish those objectives. The district will continue to work with stakeholders in moving towards a future of collaboration and community. Please stay tuned for more updates about this important work.
