This year created many obstacles as well as missed events and activities. One of those events is the annual Homecoming Parade followed by the introduction of the Homecoming Court and crowning of the queen and king.
Like so many things, the parade and other festivities could not be held in the fall. The district felt that it was important to give students some sort of Homecoming event so a Homecoming Crowning Ceremony was planned. Candidates were nominated and online voting took place. Then the library staircase was transformed into a stage for the senior court members as their names were read. While certainly not the event of past years, it was still a wonderful occasion for these students and their friends and families. The crowning ceremony was also live-streamed on the U-E YouTube Channel.
A special thanks to Andre Mathis, homecoming coordinator, library staff Trisha Vaughn and Kay Leombrone for being such gracious hostesses, Joe Brainard for the live stream, and UEHS main office secretary Susan Marshall for all her hard work in decorating, getting flowers, and the many other details that made this event so special. Also, a special thank you to the students for their participation and making the best and most of this school year.
