For nearly every profession, learning and growing is a key factor to success, and the education profession is no exception. Teaching teachers and other staff who work daily with our Tigers is an important aspect of education.
To that end, On November 5, U-E staff had the opportunity to participate in a number of workshops during Superintendent’s Conference Day held at UEHS entitled “Mental Health and Wellness.”
Classroom teachers, aides, monitors, and district leaders chose three sessions from a variety of workshops that focused on mental health and self-care. Presenters from area professional, educational and health-care organizations discussed wellness, adolescent crisis, emotional learning, diversity, stress reduction, and team building. Staff joined in on yoga sessions, tabletop games to help understand the architecture of the brain, fitness as a way to reduce stress, and technology as an assessment tool.
The sessions also provided staff from different buildings and grades the opportunity to meet and share experiences and ideas. Ultimately, the day was designed to provide staff with meaningful and useful information that will benefit them personally and professionally.
Special thanks and appreciation to Jenn Kazmark and Sarah Miller for their efforts in planning the day.
