Conductor visits with student-musicians
UEHS band and orchestra had a special visitor on Wednesday when Daniel Hege, the conductor of the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, came by to talk with our student-musicians about his career and the music that will be performed at their next concert. The repertoire consists of pieces from the jazz era. He discussed the music and the musicians who created the unique sound, including Duke Ellington’s “Black, Brown and Beige: Suite”, “Rosa Parks Boulevard” by Daugherty and selections by Nina Simone.
Learning from an expert in the field of music gave our students a unique opportunity to learn about his career. Community and collaboration with area experts go a long way in teaching our students. Thank you for visiting and thank Lisa Klein for inviting him.
The concert is on Saturday, November 9th at 7:30 at the Broome County Forum Theatre.
