Senior to compete in high jump at D-1 level

Ese signs letter

Congratulations to senior Ese Amata, who signed his NLI to NCAA Division I Conference USA Rice University as a member of the track and field team, competing in the high jump.
 
As a freshman, Ese placed second in the state qualifier and was the Class A Champion and large school representative for Section IV at the state meet.

As a sophomore, he had undefeated seasons in both indoor and outdoor track and was STAC champion, Class A champion and Section IV champion. For indoor, he placed tenth at states and 16th at nationals. For outdoor, he was the large school state champion, setting a new school record with a 6’7” jump.

In his junior year, he once again was undefeated in both indoor and outdoor track and was once again STAC champion, Class A champion and Section IV champion. In indoor he placed 8th at states and 12th at nationals. In outdoor, he placed 2nd at states, tying his own school record.
 
He has represented Section IV at the NYS championships all six of his varsity seasons and he has not lost a high jump competition in Section IV since his freshman year.

Ese plans to major in biological engineering.
He is the son of Eunice and Ejiro Amata.
