Union-Endicott Central School District News Article

March 16 update from Nicole

So much has changed in just one week’s time. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Broome County will remain under a state of emergency with all local school districts closed through April 13. Schools are scheduled to open on April 14.

In the meantime, our district is committed to the wellbeing of all students in our community. As a result, we are offering the following:

MEALS
A grab and go meal distribution will take place daily at CFJ, JFS and UEHS 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  All children 18 years of age and younger may receive a complimentary breakfast and lunch. Children do not need to be present to receive the bags, and families may attend any site (including Vestal or Maine-Endwell) to receive the meals. In addition, many of the restaurants are offering free lunches to students in the community (please see information to the right.)

We are so thankful for their support!

EDUCATION
We are offering resources on this web page (buttons to the right) for elementary, middle and high school students. We realize not all families have access to technology, and some of our students require accommodations. Therefore, students can use this time to review previously taught materials, explore resources on the website, or do other at-home activities of your choice. Many of our teachers are working today to prepare materials for students at this time.

COMMUNICATION
Families will receive regular communication from our district. The principals will keep in contact, and my office will continue to send email messages. In addition, teachers will be checking email each day, and they will be able to answer questions from parents and students This web page will updated as new information becomes available.

Please note - the majority of our buildings will be cleaned and closed until we return on April 14.

The outpouring of support during this difficult time has been incredible. I cannot thank the community enough for the hundreds of offers to help volunteer, serve meals, and support students in any way possible. The care we show for one another under these circumstances is what will help us get through this together – we are “tiger tough” and we have Tiger Pride!

Sincerely,

Nicole Wolfe
