CFJ and AGM honored veterans during their respective ceremonies. CFJ held its annual White Table Ceremony, now in its 11th year and AGM hosted its annual thank you ceremony.
AGM held its annual ceremony thanking veteran family members with handmade medals and thank you cards. A special poem was read, a photo presentation was shown and then each veteran was called up name and military branch and presented with a medal made by students. Following, veterans and their families enjoyed refreshments.
CFJ hosted the White Table Ceremony where local veterans are introduced and briefly talk about their service in the military. Then the book, “America’s White Table” is read by teachers. While the book is read, the local veterans participate in placing special items on the white table. After the book is read, students, throughout the day, place thank you cards or letters on the table, which are collected at the end of the day and sent to local veterans. The veterans then went to classrooms to give out red poppies, a symbol of remembrance.
Across the district, veterans were recognized in many ways. Please be sure to take a moment to thank a veteran this weekend.
