Congratulations to senior Eric Vought who received the 12th Man Award from the New York State High School Football Coaches Association (NYSHSFCA.)
As a junior, Eric played wide receiver until he contracted a staph infection and needed to be transported out of the area for treatment. When Eric returned to the team, he decided to play a different role and become a team manager, completely embracing his new position on the team. He took tremendous pride in helping his teammates and coaches with all the ‘little things” to make games and practices run smoothly. Eric excelled in this position and his teammates and coaches greatly appreciated his hard work and dedication.
As a senior, Eric decided to continue as team manager, a true testament to his commitment to his team, the coaches and to the sport.
This award is presented to a football player who has overcome a serious physical injury or disability and returned to his team, making a valuable contribution to the success of his team for the 2018 season either on or off the field of play.
After graduation, Eric plans to get a two-year liberal arts degree and then attend dental school.
