UEHS sophomore Eddie Fabrizio was chosen to be one of 10 students in the state to sit on the NYSED Youth Advisory Panel. The panel was established to advise the Office of Special Education on proposed policies related to the education of students with disabilities. Panel members engage in facilitated discussions with NYSED staff on policy issues relating to the education of students with disabilities.
Eddie spent the day in Albany talking about his experience as a student with a disability. When he was asked if he felt students with disabilities are included in all events and activities, Eddie couldn’t say enough about the district and praised how inclusive it is. He added, “I am involved with “Tiger Eye”, bowling, Unified Sports, and I have the opportunity to take honors classes.”
The panel meets three times a year and provides students the ability to sharpen their self-advocacy and leadership skills and network with youth, educators and other professionals.
Congratulations to Eddie on being chosen for this prestigious panel and for representing Union-Endicott!
