Teacher selected for state-wide committee
Congratulations to UEHS teacher Elizabeth Scalcione on being selected to represent the Southern Tier as a member of the Standard Setting Committee for the Global II Regents examination.
She is one of only 25 invited educators from across the state who will attend the standard setting meeting for the new Global History and Geography II (grade 10) Regents examination that will be administered on June 3.
The educators are asked to attend the meeting to recommend cut scores for the examination that differentiates test performance into specified performance levels. This will include pre-work followed by a two-day meeting, during which educators will experience the test, create borderline descriptions, and recommend cut scores. The committee will follow a research-based process to make recommendations to the NYS Commissioner of Education.
Scalcione said, “I am honored to represent Union-Endicott and to work with my peers across the state, using my knowledge and experience as an educator to help make these determinations.”
Scalcione has worked in U-E as a global studies teacher for 20 years.
