Students and baseball go together like hotdogs and popcorn! Help take the JFS sixth-grade class to a Rumble Ponies game where they will not only enjoy a game, they will learn something too!
The Binghamton Rumble Ponies will capture the students’ enthusiasm for baseball by demonstrating the many educational opportunities during the game. This includes reading a box score, computing a batting average, calculating a pitcher’s ERA, to name just a few. Baseball is truly a game of numbers and science and the applications to the classroom are almost endless. Beyond traditional core subjects, baseball can show our students perseverance, teamwork, competition, and enjoyment. Please help our students tie together the American pastime and their education.
Math and science teacher Kim Coury has set up a DonorsChoose page to help raise funds so that about 265 sixth-grade students can attend the May 15 game.
