Student to continue playing music
U-E is proud to recognize our seniors who will continue their education in music. We will highlight each of them in the coming weeks. Our sixth student musician spotlight is Shaylee Ford.
Shaylee has been involved in many different groups both in and out of school. Originally starting in chorus, she sang in talent shows, musicals and show choir. In middle school she joined marching band as a flute player, and that sparked her passion for playing instruments.
As a freshman she began learning tuba in order to replace the graduating seniors in marching band. She has played in several local groups, including holiday performances, pit orchestras, the Maine Community Band, and BYSO. Besides flute and tuba, she also plays bass trombone in jazz band.
Shaylee will attend Mansfield University where she will major in music education. She will continue playing all three instruments and be a member of The Spirit and the Pride of Pennsylvania Marching Band.
