LWW to become business incubator

Following the flood of 2011, Owego moved its elementary school into Lineaus W. West. The new Owego school is near completion and Owego will be moving out in January.

The U-E district has decided to create an alternative high school and business incubator with the idea of the business incubator being used for providing products/services which would be of interest to high school students. Students would be interns and engage in hands-on learning from businesses and their staff in a field of interest. Binghamton University will work with UE staff and students and the business ventures in collaborating and training with real world experience, focusing on students who struggle to finish high school.

Business ventures could be in the building as early as March 2016. In September 2016, a small group of eighth and ninth graders may start in the alternative high school.

A number of local news outlets talked with Dr. Suzanne McLeod about this new venture. Click on the below links to see more.
