At its regular meeting, the board of education recognized UEHS staff members who were instrumental in working with seniors over the summer so they could graduate in August.
The summer school liaisons, Elena Longo, Dee Woods-Gaston, and Steve Tibensky, worked with students, along with building leadership, guidance staff, and the BOCES summer school principal to develop a plan for each student, including schedules and needed technology.
The liaisons and students worked tirelessly, often at all hours, to meet this goal. The liaisons encouraged their students to complete the mandated work early to earn extra credit from other courses. Whether it was words of encouragement or helping students with technical issues, the liaisons provided students and their families support for a successful outcome. And it was successful! In August, UEHS hosted a graduation ceremony for the 30 students who earned their diplomas! Thank you to UEHS staff, the board of education, the district leadership team who all played a role in helping these students succeed. It truly was a collaborative effort!
