Three U-E students were recognized for their creativity in the Red Ribbon Poster Contest. CFJ students Alexis Smallcomb and Elianah Hunter and GFJ student Jillian Thomas were winners in this year’s contest, which they particpated in through Yes Leads.
The Red Ribbon Campaign, held every year in October, is associated with drug awareness and helping people become aware of the dangers it poses on our communities. Students were expected to illustrate a composition that adhered to a theme developed by Yes Leads. Every year they develop interesting themes to help engage students to draw a picture that conveys visual representation of the dangers of drugs.
Out of over 500 entries, 35 were chosen as winners. Parents and students were invited to a banquet hall at the Veteran’s Memorial Arena for a delicious dinner and desserts followed by admittance to the Binghamton Devils hockey game. State Senator Fred Akshar (R) was there to hand out awards, which included a certificate and a Toys are Us gift card.
Congratulations to our Tigers!
