UEHS students recently participated in a school safety summit hosted by Senator Fred Akshar. Principal Steve DiStefano, seniors Vincent Scalcione, Alivia Chernak, Mia Horwath and sophomores Christian Abbadessa and Aaron Davis attended this open discussion with 120 students from school districts throughout the 52nd Senate District.
No topic was off limits and the group spent hours discussing school safety, gun control, mental health, and school resource officers.
Akshar said, “These young men and women's ability to have meaningful, articulate and respectful conversations about important issues no matter whether they disagreed with one another was a breath of fresh air and a sign of what's absolutely right in our society and our community. They have my sincere thanks for working to be part of the solution.”
