Science Olympiad team places second
The U-E Science Olympiad team finished second out of 16 teams at the Sci Oly regional competition. This finish qualified them for the state competition at LeMoyne College on March 9.
This was the highest regional finish in nine years for our U-E students. The team earned a medal in 14 of the 20 events. Team members representing U-E at regionals were: Cara Dufresne, Jeffrey Yu, Jake Isaac, Sawyer Daniels, Amy Mueller, Kahlan Stokes, Jennifer Lee, Rebeccalyn Barber, Matthew Larson, Tim Mayer, Michael Herceg, Mia Horwath, Catie Collins, CJ Enders, Austin Tleon, Safiya Bashir, and Maiya Dorak.
Below are the students who received medals in their respective competitions:
Cara Dufresne and Amy Mueller placed third in ecology.
Michael Herceg and Catie Collins placed second and third, respectively, in herpetology.
Jeffrey Yu and Jake Isaac placed first in optics, second in chemistry lab and third in mission possible.
Cara Dufresne and Jake Isaac placed second in anatomy and physiology, and Sawyer Daniels and Jake Isaac placed fourth in thermochemistry.
