Recently, three juniors put more than 20% of their time into their 20% Projects, raising money and teaching others new things.
As part of a 20% Project that focused on foods from around the world, junior Jennifer Lee hosted a dim sum luncheon at UEHS. Students tasted various delicacies, including mochi balls, gyoza and sushi. Jen also gave everyone in attendance a quick chopstick etiquette session.
For her 20% Project, junior Anna Darling set out to raise money for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. She used a GoFundMe page and held a car wash and bottle drive raising $500 at that event and raising a total of $1,500! Great job Anna!
For Levi Anderson ’s 20% Project, he composed a piece of music for a percussion ensemble. Additionally, he, along with the help of Lucy Dunn, visited the middle and elementary schools to talk about the musical opportunities they will have as they get older. The goal of his project was to get students excited about music and encourage them to continue studying music as they progress through U-E. Music is vitally important for kids as it promotes brain development and allows students to have a creative outlet.
