The UEHS Mock State Senate hosted its annual Mock Legislative Session. The activity mirrored a legislative session of the New York State Senate and all of the bills brought forward were thought of and written by the students. Students debated, sometimes at great length, on eight different bills, using computers to compile and tally votes. The experience gave the students a special insight into how politics work and how laws are passed. Students will also travel to Albany to tour the capital and watch part of a session.
Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, Broome County Deputy Executive Kevin McManus and Senator Fred Akshar were in attendance to encourage these students to continue to pursue politics.
