Art students decorate sharing space

Students with painted rocks
JFS Middle School teachers Anna Strattan, Leslie Roma, and John Rodrigues set a goal, over the next couple of years, to transform one of the JFS courtyards into a nice place to read a book, study, grade papers, or enjoy a quiet conversation with a friend or mentor.

To help add to the ambience of the space was to create art. The objective of the first art installation was to combine imagery and typography to give the message of support, hope, love, and anything uplifting and encouraging to any student or staff member who enjoys this space. Students used large rocks of varying shapes and sizes, painted them and placed them in the courtyard.

In the future, the plan is to include landscaping to make the space conducive for additional seating, art installations, and perhaps a mural that will promote unity, love, creativity and diversity. Stay tuned!
